Battlestar Galactica star Lucy Lawless told
SCI FI Wire that she's completed production
on an upcoming horror film entitled The
Darkroom. Lawless, who plays D'Anna Biers on
SCI FI Channel's original series, assays a
supporting part in The Darkroom, which was
directed by Michael Hurst (the SCI FI
original movie House of the Dead 2: Dead
Aim) and also features Greg Grunberg (NBC's
Heroes).

Fangoria Magazine is reporting
that Lucy's movie The Darkroom will be released
on DVD on 2 January 2007.
- January 2 sees the
release of THE DARKROOM, the latest from the
HOUSE OF THE DEAD II/ROOM 6 team of Michael
Hurst (writer/director) and Mark A. Altman
(writer/producer). This one stars XENA’s
Lucy Lawless and ALIAS’ Greg Grunberg in the
story of a boy who believes his stepfather
is evil, and a man who has escaped from a
mental hospital who helps him discover just
how bad his stepdad is. This disc will
include commentary by Hurst and Altman and
the THE DARKROOM Exposed featurette; retail

The comic-con schedule
has been updated for Thursday (the rest of the schedule will
be updated shortly) and no mention of Lucy on the BSG panel yet

Arrow In the Head has an interview with
Writer/Director Mike Hurst about his movie Room
6. Mike also directed Lucy's movie The Darkroom.
Where are THE HARVEST and THE DARK ROOM at in terms of
distribution?
I
don’t know much about The Harvest, it was shot for a
very low budget and I’ve never seen it, I just wrote the
script. The Darkroom is the film we made after Room 6.
IDT were happy with Room 6 and asked Mark and I to come
up with another one. I had an idea, Mark added to it, we
pitched it and IDT said yes. It’s a psychological horror
movie with, I think, our best twist at the end. We made
it literally a few weeks after we’d wrapped on Room 6,
with the same crew again.
It
was an amazing rollercoaster rise, doing 3 movies inside
9 months. The Darkroom stars Lucy Lawless from Xena and
Battlestar Galactica, Shawn Pyfrom from Desperate
Housewives, Reed Diamond from Good Night and Good Luck
and Greg Grunberg from Alias. All the actors were great,
with both Lucy and Greg playing waaay off type. I’m
really proud of the film and look forward to completing
post-production when I get back from Romania, which is
where I am right now.

The Darkroom to Screen at Cannes Film Festival

As for live-action features, IDT Ent. will be bringing three new
projects to Cannes.
THE DARKROOM is being produced with Mindfire Ent. and CFQ Films.
Mark Altman and Mark Gottwald, the team of HOUSE OF THE DEAD,
HOUSE OF THE DEAD: DEAD AIM, are producing. Mike Hurst (HOUSE OF
THE DEAD: DEAD AIM) is helming. The cast includes Greg Grunberg
(ALIAS, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE III), Reed Diamond (SPIDER-MAN 2,
GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK) and Lucy Lawless (BATTLESTAR
GALACTICA, XENA: PRINCESS WARRIOR). Having lost his memory after
a case of severe amnesia, a man leaves the institution where he
has been for 15 years, in search of answers. Alone and homeless,
the man befriends a young boy who agrees to help him recover his
memory. In exchange, the boy wants the man to help him
investigate his abusive stepfather, who inexplicable locks
himself in the house’s darkroom every night.
