Hey! Lucy Lawless can still do that Xena, Warrior Princess battle cry.  A friend to many critics, Lawless was a guest at the 21st Annual Television Critics Association's Awards Show on Saturday night.

She wasn't up for anything. She just likes to hang with this jaded group.  At the poolside party after the awards show, she took part in the Bad Critic Theater, an unofficial skit during which some critics do a dramatic (or tragically comic) reading of a transcript of a news conference that we suffered through.

The transcript selected this year was PBS's "Pioneers of Comedy" in which old timers like Red Buttons and Mickey Rooney really hammed it up for us.

Lawless, who is now a blonde, starred in CBS's sci-fi thriller movie, "Locusts," last season.

It was a ratings success so she is coming back next season as the same character battling "Vampire Bats" in another CBS movie scheduled for Halloween weekend.
 

Independent Lens - Much like P.O.V. but featuring drama, music, and comedy, too. It's documentaries are of the same high quality as that on P.O.V. The most recent documentary shown was entitled Double Dare. It's about two stuntwomen, an older woman named Jeanne Epper (who was Lynda Carter's double on Wonder Woman) and a younger woman named Zoe Bell who was Lucy Lawless' stunt double for Xena: Warrior Princess. Very interesting!

Wed. Location. River Oaks theater. Man with the Screaming Brain+Q&A w/ Bruce Campbell(B-movie star, most notable for Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness). My question?

Me: Did you try to hook up with Lucy Lawless on the set of Xena?

BC: Considering the fact that she was married to the producer of Xena?!

Stadium of Fire
Most stressful day ever yesterday, but it doesn't matter because Stadium of Fire was such a great show. I was so proud to be a part of it. My conclusions are these:

Mandy Moore is the cutest, sweetest girl I've ever met (yes. Met.)
Fred Willard is my HERO. Our conversation was brief, but meaningful, even if I didn't get a picture.
Lucy Lawless is a BABE back in her natural blonde state, even if she came off as a wench when fans were trying to talk to her
I want Debbie Reynolds to be my grandma
I love our freaking country.

Now for something that kinda hit me today with a bit of a back story.. It's about my parents.. My mother has always been a strong woman, she's always done what had to be done for her and her children, no matter what was thrown at her.. she has to be one of the bravest persons I know and I love and respect her for that..

A few years ago she was diagnosed with a terminal desease called crohns, it's genetic and a big chance even I have it. It really took it's toll on her, but she is strong. She watches this show, I am sure everyone has heard, Xena. She didn't just watch it, she idolized and loved it. A huge fan, ownes every season and all that. Some might find it funny that another could idolize a fictional character but I understand. To my mom, Xena was hope to her, another strong woman, fighting to survive in the world through amazing stories..

Well now to the point, Lucy Lawless, the actress to played Xena has come to utah to sing in some forth of july thing. And of course my mom when crazy, she was soo happy to be able to see something like this. My stepdad when secretly behind her back to write a letter to them. He tried his hardest to get her to meet Lucy Lawless and she said yes. So my mom went today expecting to see her idol sing and instead ended up sitting face to face with her, talking. Lucy Lawless even asked for her phone number..

I can honestly say I have never heard my mother so happy in my life, she was almost in tears.. And that made me happy.. I finally realised something today because of all this.. Me and my stepdad.. we don't get along very well.. some might have even heard me say I hate him. But now I know I don't, I respect him.. looking at everything he has done, it is what he has thought was for the best.. maybe not for me but he has always looked out for what was best for my mother. He's even put himself under her, his parkinsons desease he has that has been such a huge burden on him, he's over come, no matter how hard it was, for her.. All he went through so this day ended like it has, opened my eyes to this. That man whould do anything for my mother and there is no one else that deserves her more then he does..

One sort of spoiler is that Lucy Lawless will be appearing on the show…well most people know that now BUT they silly set moment apparently was a scene that Jamie and Katee had to film sans…most of their clothes ,yes poor Katee has to be naked with Jamie again LOL mind you she is not always thrilled to be naked….. well probably never thrilled …(grin) but I guess if you have to pick a guy to be naked with Jamie will do in a pinch (evil grin) Anyway they kept blowing the scene because even though their “Parts” have covering they still kept having “Eyeline” issues…. I KNOW I would have an “Eyeline” issue if I had an even partially naked Jamie in my midst. Anyway they did finally get the scene done and Lucy Lawless is supposed to walk in on them in the locker room type place and say her line…. Well Lucy walks in on cue and WHERE do you think her eyes went…YUP!!! Jamie….LOL another scene blown…they all cracked up over that at that table.
