Xena star tackles locusts
Kiwi star Lucy Lawless says playing a US Department of Agriculture employee is much sexier than it sounds. The former Xena star has just appeared in the US tele-movie Locusts as a woman battling a deadly breed of voracious, bio-engineered insects that have escaped from a government lab.
"I play a young gal who has come into the Department Agriculture as the undersecretary, which may not sound as sexy to you as it is in reality," she says wryly of her character.
It is her biggest TV role for some time, although she did appear in The X-Files, Two And A Half Men and the short-lived adventure series Tarzan.
