''Boogeyman'' will scare up the top spot. It's February: time for big opening weekends for horror films

FEAR FACTOR ''Boogeyman'' (starring ''7th Heaven'''s Watson) will top the box office

Another winter weekend, another bad horror movie. Following Alone in the Dark and Hide and Seek, the thriller Boogeyman will try to scare up some business, but are audiences sick of being scared?

Boogeyman, starring TV vets Barry Watson and Lucy Lawless, will fight for box office supremacy with Hide and Seek, but should emerge on top with around $13 million. Meanwhile, Seek, featuring Robert De Niro, will likely see a drop of 55 percent to $10 million its second weekend, as will Ice Cube’s comedy Are We There Yet?

The weekend’s other new wide release is The Wedding Date, a romantic comedy starring Will & Grace’s Debra Messing. Its modest theater count (only about 1,700 movie houses) means it may have a hard time breaking double digits, but a $9 million debut seems in order. Close behind will be Oscar favorite Million Dollar Baby, which should fight its way to fifth place with another $8 million.
